- Doing laundy we count how many items come out of the dryer
- Folding laundry we say the colors of each item
- Driving we notice colors and find certain colors
- Driving we also sing ABC'S and a song for days of the weeks
- Driving we also point out what red means (stop), green (go), yellow (get ready to stop), blue (hospital)
- Going to the park we pick out shapes or while shopping, we also do the same with colors
- In the car we practice spelling our name or while we are shopping (I do get funny looks sometimes but hey oh well)
- Doing dishes is a great way we do shapes and counting
- The game twister is great for teaching left from right
- We learn our left from our right while shopping going up and down the isles we will say we are going to turn... then do so.
- They only get to watch educational shows, nick jr is great and so is the baby channel and sprout
- We count all of our toys while putting them away etc...

Party Planning
- I remember our kids are gifts from God and every year we get with them is a gift so birthdays are a very big deal at our house.
- I want their birthday to be a good one so I plan shortly after the each party, so even if money is a little tight they still get to celebrate in a big way.
- I put money in an envelope even if its a dollar a week
- I have a list of themes according to age to do and go through based on their interest and time of year (one I just added because a girl at church did this, a scavenger hunt, you do have to include other parents but they girls had a blast from what I understand and my neighbor who was driving had fun too. Its for older kids)
- If I find any of the party stuff on sale I get it and stash it away just like I do for Christmas
- I plan parties either early in the day or late in the evening (this way you don't interfere with other peoples plans, my girls get invited to birthday parties a lot and I know how it feels to re-arrange your saturday around a party)
- I also write clothes and shoe sizes on the invitation so I get less calls and this makes a world of a difference
- Early morning parties are around 10:30/11 and get cake, ice cream, and small appetizers like chips and dip, or breakfast casseroles
- Late evening parties we do something like hot dogs and/or burgers, its inexpensive and quick, and cake and ice cream
- Party favors I will get one "big" toy and candy I also mark the favor boxes with a "g" or "b" and do favors accordingly for boys or girls
- I only buy the theme supplies like plates and cups and stuff for the kids, adults get plain plates in the colors of the theme
- I also only schedule the party for no more than two hours.

So relaxed and taking it all in
This weekend was amazing! Finally some sleep, relaxation, much needed family time, A's on test and first papers, and skating!
Doodle Bug about to pass out after a long day of shopping today, I love my stroller older child and sit or stand in the back and the seat folds nicely and I can remove it or put it back very easily.
Ms. K, Father in law, and mother in law after great night of celebrating.
My father in law and my hubby, they are so much a like...haha.
Punkin excited to be riding in daddy's truck with the top off!
Doodle Bug not sure what to think, it was her 1st time in the 4-runner.
Daddy's antique/classic (not sure) '87 4-runner pretty much completely restored this is his baby. I was told I would have to bury him in this truck. Perfect temp for riding with the top off!

mommies
Away from everything,
Free from all the craziness
A mother's day can bring.
Three healthy meals a day,
Served up with love to finicky kids
Who throw most of it away.
Dirty laundry on the floor,
Driving everyone every place,
Sibling rivalry (It’s war!)
Getting mad if I forget,
Me giving up my very self—
I’m the family marionette.
(Or maybe the looney bin),
I get free time and three square meals;
With nothing to do, I win!
For freedom, time and such,
There’s just one obstacle for me:
I love my kids too much!
What Did You Do Today?
Today I left some dishes dirty, The bed got made around 3:30. The diapers soaked a little longer, The odor grew a little stronger. The crumbs I spilled the day before, Are staring at me from the floor. The fingerprints there on the wall, Will likely be there still next fall. The dirty streaks on those window panes, Will still be there next time it rains. Shame on you, you sit and say, Just what did you do today?
I nursed a baby till he slept, I held a toddler while he wept, I played a game of hide and seek, I squeezed a toy so it would squeak. I pulled a wagon, sang a song, Taught a child right from wrong. What did I do this whole day through? Not much that shows, I guess it’s true. Unless you think that what I’ve done, Might be important to someone, With bright brown eyes and soft blond hair, If that is true … I’ve done my share.

These two little angels are why I do what I do, the sacrifices, the hard work, the loss of privacy, craziness, the busyness, and the never ending work, doesn't seem bad at all when you can look at your kids and know they are in your hands, well taken care of, and they are happy! The simple "I love you mommy" that I hear all day is the best reward I can receive after a long hard day!
