Being a young mommy!

I originally started this blog to help young moms see that being a mom sometimes is tough especially at a "young" age but you can still achieve you dreams and be what you always wanted to be. I might be 23 now but I still get looks that make me feel that they are judging me because I have two kids and have even had people tell me "your not old enough to have kids". Well age does not make a good mommy! Loving your kids and giving them your best and what you can makes a GREAT MOMMY! Kids do not need to have top notch everything just your love and they are happy.

No, I'm not a teen mom or in high school but I am still pretty young to have two small children at the ages of three and almost ten months old. I guess to help you understand what I mean a little better I should give you a little history of my life.

My mom and my dad were 17 years old when I came into the world. They did get married, although I know they were not in love, before I was born and my younger sister was born right before I turned three years old. My dad joined the Navy to support us and long story short it didn't work out. I do not believe if you are not in love do not get married just because of the baby. I KNOW from experience all it does is torture the child and makes its worse on them having parents who hate each other and can't be nice even for the child's sake. Two birthday days or awkward birthdays and being pushed back and forth from different houses (rushed) sucks on holidays. I vowed my children would never have to go through that. If you have to do that situation it is very important to co-parent and be nice to each other in front of the kid(s). I have seen parents do this and it's amazing to see how much a divided family can actually be happy and the parents be friends even when step parents get involved.

Because of this one of my sides of the family always told me I would be just like my mom and I have always resented this. So I spent my whole life proving them wrong. I graduated high school without being pregnant and "having" to get married. I did however get engaged to my wonderful husband about six months after graduating (age 18) and we moved in together. We were also engaged for six months before we were married. When we were married I was 19 years old and we got pregnant on our honey moon. We were excited, he is 4 years older than me and both of us knew we wanted kids soon, even though we were thinking a year after though. It turns out that my birth control failed and the sad thing is my doctor had to give written proof so that side of my family believed me because the response I got out of them when we announced our news was "well at least you got married." This crushed me! I was 20 years old when my oldest was born and we could not imagine our lives with out her.

I did put off college because after graduating I was going to save but instead I moved out, got engaged, got married, and had a baby. Then, well life happened and it kept getting put off. I did get registered for classes about a year and a half ago and then the finances didn't fall into place, so I decided to put it off again and just be mommy. I have been a stay at home mom since Punkin was 2 months old and we bought our first home. We are very blessed for my hubby to have a great job that was put in his lap and tripled our income the day we signed on our house. Money does still get really tight sometimes and thats when getting crafty and becoming really good and finding really great deals comes in real handy and now its like a second nature to me.
We decided to add to our family right before Punkin turned two years old and it was because we wanted them close for school age. We figured we would be able to plan it perfectly because of how soon we were able to get pregnant with Punkin without trying. HAHAHA! It took us five months to get pregnant with Doodle Bug. Then because that didn't pan out Doodle Bug was born in October and Punkin was born in June so all of Punkins old clothes before 2T wouldn't fit Doodle big because of the different seasons. :( Thankfully my Aunt who has a little girl one year older than Punkin and shares a birthday with Doodle Bug still had lots of old baby clothes.

Now finally that Punkin will be starting pre-school next year and Doodle Bug is almost one I am finally going to school and starting Thursday. I am taking on a lot of classes especially to two little ones at home. I am taking four internet classes and one night class.

I just want people to know that young moms are still good moms and can still accomplish their dreams and goals. It will take lots of hard work, stressful days, and no sleep sometimes but it is STILL possible with hard work and dedication. I will be trying to post a new post everyday on how to keep up with school, house work, and the kids and a busy husband while partially keeping your sanity. Organization is KEY!

Have a great week! and I hope some of this helps!

Catching up

Things have been very crazy around here but things are finally calmed down and so I figured before I get to bed early I would catch everyone up.

This weekend we had a home improvement project going on but a simple one just re-arranging. It made an amazing difference!

Thursday my hubby took me to dinner at Olive Garden as a congrats your finally starting school dinner. Friday, our couple friend that was having trouble (they worked it out) cooked us steaks, homemade pasta salad and a pie and they brought it over to our home and we enjoyed dinner and a movie with them. Saturday I was able to catch up on all of my cleaning while hubby was keeping the kiddos entertained. After my cleaning was done he worked on his project truck and I entertained the kiddos. Sunday, we made it back to church we have missed the previous 4 Sundays, and we enjoyed the service and Punkin was excited to get back to her class. For the rest of the day we have been relaxing and just enjoying our family time. I did cook a "big" dinner. Well a whole chicken, I rarely ever cook a whole chicken, stuffed with onions and potatoes, noodles and some tomatoes. It was my husbands idea to use the onions. It turned out pretty good so I was kind of excited.
We also finally got our family schedule back on track. The girls had dinner, baths, and bedtimes on time last night. The house was clean which makes it easy to get out the door on time on Sunday mornings. I let the Hubby sleep in until 10 am (church starts at 11 and it is maybe 3 minutes from home). I got up started the coffee, cooked breakfast, straightened my hair, got the girls up fed and dressed and we were out the door in the nick of time.

We were also blessed to welcome two new precious baby girls into our lives this past week. The first Miss Thang, our new neice who lives in a different state. We are very thankful though that one year for Christmas my dad bought all of us web cams so we could keep in touch with his sister (my aunt) and my grandmother. When my sis in law and her husband got transfered to a different state shortly after Punkin was born they bought a web cam so we can still see them too. We got to do a web chat with them and see our precious new niece and introduce all of our girls to each other and it was so great. My inlaws are there with my sister in law for about another week to visit with their new grandbaby and then they will be coming home. Our second baby girl we got to welcome into this world was our couple friends third addition to their family. We went to see her at the hospital after church today and I can't believe that only 9 almost 10 short months ago my Doodle Bug was that size of those two precious babies, they grow up so fast. We have had a very good end of the week and weekend and it was very refreshing. Especially since things were so hectic and crazy the past few weeks although it feels like months.

This is my wonderful sis in law and her great hubby and our new precious niece!
The funny thing is Miss Thang, Doodle Bug, and Punkin all look exactly alike in their first pictures.

This Thursday I start my first day of college in 5 years. I am really nervous and excited all at the same time. I have all but one of my books with the exception on one and I should have that one one Tuesday. I'm taking on a huge load 15 credit hours and so I'm hoping I can keep us on our schedule so that way I can study and get all of my school work done and make good grades. I will probably have to tweak our family schedules a few times before I am able to get it to where it works great for us.
English 101
Political Science
BADM
Math 99 (my worst subject) so I figured that I should take a review class 1st.

I hope everyone had a great weekend and has a great week!

Really quick

It is really late but I wanted to post a little something, I haven't been on in a while things have been crazy.

Doodle Bug finally had her 9 month check up (so did Punkins Baby) and she is doing great. No shots this time but is perfectly healthy and reaching all of her milestones. Punkin has been cranky all day and my house is a wreck and I'm so tired I'm about to pass out. I decided to re-arrange our living room (a major ordeal) and Punkin being cranky and not being able to move a lot of the furniture by myself didn't really help the situation either. Hopefully this weekend I'll have a post up of our "new" living room minus that new paint. Hubby said I would probably have to wait a couple more months for that one because what I decided I wanted to do was more work than I thought. Can anyone say re-wiring the surround sound and the moving the computer out of the playroom and into the living room and breaking up three solid oak bookcases :) He's a trooper though and even took us out to eat at Olive Garden tonight.

Anyways that is just a brief and very vague part of my day, hopefully tomorrow I can do a catch up post and and maybe one on toddler naps.

Goodnight all and sweet dreams!

Relaxing weekend

This weekend one of our close friends had a trip planned for all of her close friends to go floating down Caddo river in Arkansas. We had a blast and it was so relaxing, It usually take 4 hours to float or so we were told but they let the dam out right went we got there so it took about half the time but we had a blast!

These pics are the ones she sent me because I wasn't aloud to bring my camera because every time we go on a trip I loose one lol. So we all passed her waterproof, shock proof camera around. I did get a pic of a the group that went in my truck. It was jammed packed!
My girls were at my parents and had a blast. My aunt (ten years older than me) was in town with her two kids (oldest is a year older than Punkin and her youngest is a couple months younger than Doodle Bug, which was a family joke that we would have our kids at the same time). They went shopping, swimming, to a bar-b-q, and had a play date with their cousins and got spoiled rotten as always. I am sure there were lots of pictures taken and will get them e-mailed to me and I will post them when I get them.

I'm glad we got to relax this weekend because this week is dedicated to getting back on our schedule that we have veered away from the past month really. School starts for me at the end of next week so the schedule needs to be in place so I will be able to study. I'm still a little nervous but I know that will pass.

Hope everyone had a great weekend filled with lots of laughs and fun we did!

Seeing the light at the end of the Tunnel ;)

Wednesday was a great relaxing me time. Me and my hubby had a chat about the dirty little secret and decided to not hang out with this certain couple until the other was told the "crime" (hoping it would weigh heavy on their heart and get them to tell their spouse). It worked! The secret was told that very night and I woke up yesterday morning with a lot of energy and in a better mind set! My girls were also very good yesterday and I managed to get my house completely back to normal. I can't relax if my house is not clean, I will admit I'm anal about being neat and organized even though I can't always stay on top of it, who can with two young kids and three dogs?

Yesterday, I had so much energy and Punkins tea sets were all nasty and sticky because she puts real food on them, I washed her dishes and we re-organized her kitchen. We also cleaned out the toys in the playroom and were even able to lose a toy basket :) Then we moved to her closet and I found a forgotten piece of a storage container that works GREAT for the playroom / office supplies. I also have not seen her tea party table that clean since we took it out of the box and it has permanent markers all over it now.

See here's the proof I'm probably a little to anal, her refrigerator is organized and she actually keeps it like that lol.

Her working dishwasher...she needed a working one of those too...haha

We use her old microwave as a pantry because "it doesn't work" and she needed a new one.

Her new microwave "that works".

This morning has been great so far too. ITS FRIDAY! Both of the girls slept until 9am and that was very nice, I woke up to a clean house, and tomorrow we are going to Arkansas to float down Caddo River. I'm ready for a mini one night vacation with my hubby and some good friends.

School starts in about two weeks and I don't even think I was this nervous when I got married or even gave birth to my girls. I think I'm more nervous because I'm taking on so much for my first semester but hey my goal is to graduate before Doodle Bug starts school, so thats my drive that and I have no choice I have to get it done :)

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Pets

We have three dogs, Bandit our ratterrier and oldest, Sadow our lab doberman mix and middle, and Sadie our St. Bernard and youngest who will soon be one. Bandit and Shadow are both males and Sadie is our female. I have to say sometimes our pets drive me more insane than the kids.

Bandit- I have had Bandit since I was 16 years old and he was always my baby. When I got married we lived in an apartment and I could not bring him with us so he stayed at my parents and when we finally got a house I brought him over here. Well, he was used to it always being me and him and then he comes in and I have a husband, baby (Punkin) and we got Shadow so he rebelled (just like a kid)! This is so frustrating!

Shadow- We got him as our first pet as a couple and he was a great dog and very protective of Punkin. He was housebroken very easily, so was Bandit, and a well behaved dog. Then we when brought them both together they both started marking their territory. IN MY HOUSE! I have never been so upset, especially when they both knew better. Bandit was fixed too and still does it. We finally got them broke of that after hours of me steam cleaning carpets, furniture, our shed corners getting rusted etc.

Sadie- When we brought Sadie home we didn't have any problems except house training her, which is expected with a new puppy and she really never had any problems. The only problem we did have was when she went in heat and we had to keep her and shadow separated, which was thankfully a success.

We had three good dogs....until...we ripped up all the carpets and Shadow and Bandit got mad and started peeing everywhere! Really! Thats all I could say so I told my husband that I'm sorry but they had to be outside dogs because I didn't have time to be constantly steam cleaning and cleaning our kids toys, that made me the most upset. Well it didn't last long because it started to get hot. Sadie only goes outside during the summer because she has so much fur down here its way to hot for her. But guess what, now I DO NOT CARE BANDIT AND SHADOW ARE BANNED FROM OUTSIDE!

Today was one of the first days that have started off on a good foot since this weekend, even though I did not get any sleep and even after waking up to a dirty house, which I did clean yesterday. Does anyone else have that problem? You clean and then an hour later, if that, its messy again. How does that happen I have yet to figure that out?!?!

Anyways....I walked in the living room to let the kids eat breakfast and watch cartoons so I could get a start on the dishes and found that Shadow and Bandit were peeing on my couch so when I yelled at them to stop Shadow walked over to the chair to pee on it. ARE YOU KIDDING ME! Since when and why do dogs have to be so defiant? Really? I immediately put them out and sent my hubby a text telling them they are not aloud back in the house, ever! That I would be glad to turn on the sprinkler or buy them a pool for a while during the day before they were coming back in. He never replied lol. And so I got to work! This is not was I had planned to do today so I was a little upset but did find some good surprises while doing the work.

This is so annoying and so frustrating!

Got to love them right?
The ugly worn carpet, I can't wait to replace it.

My nice surprise and this was the love seat the couch had less stuff under the cushions, I was nervous to vacuum under them, is that sad that is my nice surprise?

After steam cleaning and I only worked on the bad spots.

My lovely dishes that are still waiting to be cleaned.

Right along with the play room that I'm honestly not worried about.

So hopefully now that the girls are staring to wake up I will still be able to bet this house decent and then I can do my grocery shopping and relax...wish me luck.

A little bit of chaos!

This weekend went by way to fast. Friday we had a game night planned that got cut short because our friends wife was not feeling well. Then I got a migraine that I still can't get rid of. Saturday we had a lazy morning until we dropped off the kids at their grandparents and then my hubby went 4-wheeler riding and I came home to clean my house. Well, I was not feeling all that well so I didn't and our girls night got canceled because of a few things. Then, Sunday we found out one of our set of couple friends are having serious problems. This makes me feel so sad because the other is clueless to the problem I think they need to be informed! So that has been bugging me for a couple of days so much I can't get it off my mind and its making me anxious. I have no idea how do deal with this news and I really wish I never heard it because now I know I will never look at them the same.

Anyways, on a sort of lighter note, me and Doodle Bug have been feeling like crud, while Punkin is a ball of energy and my house was unforgivable nasty and needed to be clean. Yesterday and today I have been catching up on my house cleaning to get my mind off of the dirty little secret I know that I don't want to know. Today we have gymnastics and my house has been hectic and not fun and I can't wait until tomorrow for my free night. It's been so busy that I decided to not fight with Punkin on making her take a nap and just let her do pre-school on the computer while Doodle Bug takes a nap, she's quiet and I can get my housework done. Not the best parenting but sometimes you have to do that you have to do. Its been one of those days that have drug on into the week. This weekend we will also be going to Lake DeGray to celebrate our close friends birthday, we will be renting a cabin and floating down the Caddo River on tubes (it takes about 3 hours I think). That will be a great get a way and hopefully help clear my mind!

I know that this is a downer post but writing helps me clear my head and helps me relax so if you read the whole thing thank you! I hope everyone else is having a better week than we are!

P.S. Last night in at the Red River (very strong current and pretty dangerous) we had 6 teenagers drown. There were 7 and one was rescued. This river has drop offs everywhere it can be ankle deep in one spot take a step then waist deep, and take another step and no bottom. My best friends husband is a cop and was was one trying to do the recovery, so please keep these families, kids, our police officers, and our firemen in your prayers! This was a very tragic loss and heavy on our hearts so please keep them in your prayers!
